Executive Director's Report
ImprovAbility’s first year of operations as a Not For Profit organization has been about building relationships. It’s been exciting - and a bit chaotic too. Chaos is the ingredient that makes improvisation so scary and exciting. What might happen next when we are making it up with someone else? Socializing can bring the same scary, chaotic feelings as we interact with others and make it up as we go along. So ImprovAbility’s Mission - to inspire and mobilize neurodiverse individuals to create networks through Social Improv™– reminds us of our reasons for embracing the chaos and making social sense of it – together.
From designing our new Adult Social Improv™ workshop this past January to training new volunteer coaches to assembling our wonderful new board of directors, this has been a really exciting year and a half for me. It’s my goal this year to create more opportunities for partnering with other organizations, generating some needed funding to help build out our infrastructure and capacity and to continue to build connections between individuals with a special focus on fostering those relationships inside the neurodiverse community.
Together we’ll continue to build dynamic social networks and offer effective practical Social Improv™ programming throughout York Region and beyond. Thanks to everyone who has supported our organization so far and to those who will be joining us over the coming year.
